Larc, does that mean they could have gotten a civil divorce and still be in good standing within the JWs?

Thanks for the reply Larc. Are you sure that adultery is the only grounds? It's hard for me to believe since they are both such good JWs.
BTW, I've only been married a year and a half.

Greetings. I have a general question about the policy of divorce. I'm a not a JW. My wife has been a JW for over 10 years and was previously married to a JW. I don't know much about her divorce from her ex and was wondering if anyone can help fill in the blanks. Do JWs have rules governing who can get divorced in their congregation? Does a person need to get permission from an elder first? Can anybody get a divorce? Do there have to be grounds for divorce? Can you be Df'd for getting a divorce?
Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Help for a non-Witness
by hagey ini'm looking for anyone who is married to a non-witness, or someone who themselves is not a witness but is married to one.
i'm in desperate need of advice and don't know where else to turn.
i myself am not a witness but my girlfriend is and our religous differences are forcing us apart.

Hagey, your last post reminds me so much of myself. I am a non-JW who ended up marrying a JW. I knew my wife before she joined the Borg. We dated and were lovers in college. I loved her more than life itself. Our love was like a drug. Then she got assimilated. We broke up and she eventually married and divorced a JW. However, they didn't have true love. She contacted me after the divorce and we got married.
A few weeks ago, our marriage almost ended. The reason: she no longer wanted to have oral sex with me. Said she found it REVOLTING. We have always had oral sex and both of us have enjoyed it. I was very upset by this and suspected that the Borg was behind it. I confronted her about us not having oral sex, and sure enough, my wife had read some jw literature that condems this practise. I tried to get her to compromise, telling her that she had changed and this wasn't fair. We had a real crises on our hands. I thought to myself if my wife isn't willing to compromise on this issue, then we should probably get a divorce. I thought to myself that not only did I not want to go without oral sex the rest of my life, but that if she wasn't able to compromise on an issue that was important to me, then our relationship was over. Fortunately for us, she had a talk with the wife of an elder who told it was ok to have oral sex. This couple had dealt with the issue themselves and the CO said it was ok to have oral sex. What a bunch of crap we went through. It almost ended our marriage.
Lesson: JWs don't compromise.
P.S. We now have a six month old son and I know we will have a difficult time raising him. I hope our relationship doesn't crash and burn. (I still love my wife, but it is now a more mature love, not the love one has at the beginning of a relationship). I hope she someday leaves the Borg.

My question is, has anyone ever joined the Borg with the intent of trying to get a son/daughter/wife/etc. out of it? What was the result?
I'm entertaining the idea. I'm just scared that it could destroy my marriage if I'm unsuccessful. I'm also determined to get my wife out. I'm just not sure of my strategy at this time.

Sexual Morality in OT & NT
by AlanF insexual morality in the old testament differs from that in the new testament .
conservative christians like the jehovah's witnesses often claim that, like the new testament, the old testament forbids all sexual relations outside marriage, including relations between unmarried people.
that is not quite true.

Thanks Alan. That was a great post. I'm sure a lot of hours went into it. Your post got me to thinking about other instances in the bible where the morality of God changed over time. I'd love to read future posts dealing with this issue.

Do Majority of exJWs remain Christians?
by Ray Skyhorse indo the majority of exjws retain a christian faith after leaving the borg?
does the majority of exjws continue studying the bible on their own or join a new christian group that's less rigid than the jws?
or does the majority say to hell with christianity?.

Greetings,
Do the majority of exJWs retain a Christian faith after leaving the Borg? Does the majority of exJWs continue studying the bible on their own or join a new Christian group that's less rigid than the JWs? Or does the majority say to hell with Christianity?
By reading the various comments of people posting, its hard for me to tell if the majority of exJWs still practise some form of Christianity. There seems to be a lot of people on this list who don't believe at all anymore in Christianity. It seems about 50-50 to me but I'm new here and I'm just guessing.
A follow-up question:
If a person had no particular beliefs before becoming a Borg, would that person more likely become a regular Christian after exiting the Borg or would she more likely return to her previous belief system? Did you return to your previous belief system (if you had any)?
BTW I'm new here. I am not a JW but my wife is. We've been married about two years and we have a little boy. I hope someday my wife leaves the Borg. If she does, it will be interesting to see what her beliefs mutate into. She wasn't a Christian before the Borg.
This place is such a wonderful resource. What a great supportive bunch of people! I wish it was around when my wife was assimilated in 1989. I would have had a shoulder to cry on.

I'd like to thank everyone for replying to my post. Since I was never part of the Borg, it is very interesting to read the variety of comments, particulary from former members.
Yerusalyim, you were asking what my story is...well, it's a long one and one that I wish to tell though I'll need some time to write it.
The very short of it is I'm 37 year old guy who lives in So Cal. I've been married for the last year and a half to a woman who is Borg. She was assimilated 13 years ago. I fell in love with her before she joined the Collective and I'm still in love with her. We are great friends and we have a 5 month old son. More to come.

Thanks for the info TR.
I'd like to ask a follow-up question. How much of a profit do you think the Borg is making on these materials? I get the impression from people posting that the printing business is a real money maker for the Borg. However, once you factor in postage it doesn't sound too profitable to me.

Hi. This is my first time posting. I'm married to a JW though I'm not. I'm too afraid to ask her this question for fear of provoking a fight. I was wondering how much does the average JW spend a year on books? Do they also do a collection at their meetings and conventions? How much do you think my wife spends per year on the Borg? Thanks.
